buried, Simon HESS died in 1891 or 1892, shortly after selling property in
Wayne Twp., Dauphin Co., and was presumably buried shortly after.
His widow appears to have relocated to Harrisburg before the fourth
quarter of 1895, and first appears in the Harrisburg City Directory
in 1896. Using her husband's name, she purchases two lots in East
Harrisburg Cemetery, Harrisburg, Pa., where records show that Simon
Hess is buried. She appears to have had her husband disinterred from
his previous burial place and buried in East Harrisburg Cemetery in
1896. |

Rheumatism is an older term, used to describe any of a number of
painful conditions of muscles, tendons, joints, and bones.
Rheumatism conditions have been classified as either localized,
regional, or generalized. Localized rheumatism conditions include
bursitis and tendinitis. Regional rheumatism conditions include chest
wall pain, temporomandibular joint pain, and myofascial pain
syndromes. Generalized rheumatism conditions include fibromyalgia.
Another category of rheumatism is psychogenic rheumatism. With this
term it is understood that the patient is reporting inconsistent
pains of muscles and joints that do not correspond to true anatomy
and physiology. The patient is felt to have underlying psychological
causes for the symptoms.
According to Joan Mary HAHN, her grandmother, Mary Jane HESS told her
that people called her father, "old rich Hess", and that he had money
buried on his property. |
