Her tombstone gives her birthdate as 23 April 1845, and name as Mary
J. but her death certificate gives her birth as 22 April 1844. The
tombstone appears correct, given the birthdate of her sister, Eliza
in Dec. 1843.

It has not been confirmed that Mary HESS is to be identified with the
Mary HEP or HESS that is living with the family of Michael & Mary
SPONSLER in Halifax in 1870.
