1900 - Age 56, b. Dec 1843, married 33 years; 6 children (not
including her three step-children), 6 still living.
1910 - Age 68, married 40 years; 9 children (including her three step-
children), 4 still living.
In 1880, Samuel MILLER is listed as a son of John W, MILLER, but
later censuses confirm that this is his step-son, Samuel LOOMIS.
Samuel LOOMIS is born presumably from a prior relation of Eliza, and
is living with his mother and step-father; the oldest three MILLER
children listed are presumably her own step-children.
Eliza HESS evidentally had a son, Samuel LOOMIS, by a man, a Charles
LOOMIS. prior to her marriage to Charles Smith MILLER. The 1900
census shows Eliza HESS married to Charles Smith MILLER for 33 years
(abt. 1867/8), and Samuel LOOMIS born, May 1867. The 1880 census
shows a Samuel HESS (persumably Samuel LOOMIS) living with his mother
and step-father, and he is listed as 14 years old (b. abt. 1865/6). |
