| Notes for Simon William HESS | ||||||||||||||||
| 1840 - Age 0-5 (must be 0) 1850 - Age 10 1860 - Age 20, Farm Hand 1870 - Age 30, Machinist The deed to his house at 280 Hepburne St. was held from 27 April 1871 to 1883. His will was written in 12 April 1877, four months before his death, and was probated on 12 April 1878. It was reported that there was a Native American in one of his ancestral lines. However, research has not uncovered a Native American, but has uncovered several incidents involving conflicts with Native Americans (i.e. Martin HESS, and Peter WALMER). Joan Mary HAHN says she believes the native American was an ancestor of Charles Chauncey OAKS. _____________________________ U.S. Civil War Soldiers, 1861-1865 Name: Simon Hoss Side: Union Regiment State/Origin: Pennsylvania Regiment Name: 187 Pennsylvania Inf.
