Consumption, He died at 38 years of age, presumably in Williamsport, Pennsylvania,
when his son, Charles Edward Hess was four months old. He may be
buried at Mound Cemetery (now Wildwood Cemetery) where his daughter,
Margaret Elizabeth Hess is buried. Wildwood Cemetery does not have
records before 1900 for Mound Cemetery. The Lycoming Courthouse is
missing death registers for 1877 and 1878.
According to Joan Mary HAHN, her grandmother, Mary Jane HESS told her
that her father died from Consumption (Tubercleosis), and that he
used to lean against poles because he was "hacking" so bad. |
