He died 25 Vendémiaire Year XI of the French Republic, 7 PM, in
Wiesoppenheim, age 64 years.
When his death was recorded, Benderd Hirsch Isac, thirty years old, a
Jew, said he was a relative of the deceased, and signed his name,
"Benderd Hirsch" as witness to the death. Benderd HIRSCH [b. 1771/2]
is probably the son of Hirsch ISAC. It is unclear whether he is a
blood relative of Liebmann LOEB, or a relative through marriage. |

Age 73 years.
Rosalie LOEB nee BLOCH died on 14 September 1824 in Worms at 78
Section E on Judengasse (Jews Lane). The 1824 Address Book for Worms
shows a Cornelius HAYMANN living at that address (or possibly the
owner of the home at that address) in June 1824. Addresses were
specified using a number unique to a particular section of the city.
Street numbers did not exist. Rosalie's address was 78 Section E,
and not 78 Judengasse. This changed, however, in 1867 when all
section numbers in the city were changed to street numbers. The 1867
Address Book for Worms shows 78 Section E being changed to 12 Hintere
Judengasse (Rear Jews Lane). Judengasse had houses situated on both
its north and south side and ran along the south side of the city
wall in the northern part of the city. Hintere Judengasse was
located south of Judengasse, and is referred to simply as Judengasse
in the 1818, 1824 and 1833 Address Books for Worms. At some time
after 1867, Raschigasse was pav |

| Notes for Lazarus (Liebmann) LEVI (LOEB) |
His name is listed as Liebmann LEVI in the marriage record of his
daughter, Johanetta LIEBMANN. His widow, Rosalie LEVY/LEVI/LEVIS nee
ARON BLOCH, changed her family name in 1808 to BLOCH (believed to be
the second name of her father) and also changed the family name of
her daughters to LOEB (which is evidently an alternate form of the
second name of Liebmann LEVI, the deceased father of her daughters).
He is listed as Lazarus LIEBMANN in the 1855 death record of his
daughter, Johanetta LIEBMANN, but this is believed to be incorrect.
Jacob HAHN, the grandson of Liebmann LEVI, was the informant on the
death record of his mother, Johanetta LIEBMANN. However, Rosalie
BLOCH was present at the 1812 marriage of her daughter, Johanetta
LIEBMANN, therefore, the 1812 marriage record must take precedence
over the 1855 death record.
Liebmann LEVI was probably born with the Hebrew first name, Lazarus,
and went by Liebmann. |
