Age 73 years.
Rosalie LOEB nee BLOCH died on 14 September 1824 in Worms at 78
Section E on Judengasse (Jews Lane). The 1824 Address Book for Worms
shows a Cornelius HAYMANN living at that address (or possibly the
owner of the home at that address) in June 1824. Addresses were
specified using a number unique to a particular section of the city.
Street numbers did not exist. Rosalie's address was 78 Section E,
and not 78 Judengasse. This changed, however, in 1867 when all
section numbers in the city were changed to street numbers. The 1867
Address Book for Worms shows 78 Section E being changed to 12 Hintere
Judengasse (Rear Jews Lane). Judengasse had houses situated on both
its north and south side and ran along the south side of the city
wall in the northern part of the city. Hintere Judengasse was
located south of Judengasse, and is referred to simply as Judengasse
in the 1818, 1824 and 1833 Address Books for Worms. At some time
after 1867, Raschigasse was pav |

He died 25 Vendémiaire Year XI of the French Republic, 7 PM, in
Wiesoppenheim, age 64 years.
When his death was recorded, Benderd Hirsch Isac, thirty years old, a
Jew, said he was a relative of the deceased, and signed his name,
"Benderd Hirsch" as witness to the death. Benderd HIRSCH [b. 1771/2]
is probably the son of Hirsch ISAC. It is unclear whether he is a
blood relative of Liebmann LOEB, or a relative through marriage. |

| Notes for Roesge (Rosalie) ARONIN (BLOCH) |
Her name appears as Rößgen ARONIN on her husband's death record.
ARONIN is the feminine form of Aron, and would be the first name of
her father.
She is listed as Rosalie LIEBMANN nee LEVIS on the death certificate
of her daughter, Johanetta LIEBMANN, but this is believed to be
incorrect. The marriage record of Johanetta LIEBMANN shows her
mother as Rosalie BLAK. Rosalie ARONIN changed her family name in
1808 to BLOCH (which is probably the family name of her father, Aron,
which is evident from the fact that her five daughters all changed
their family name to their father's family name, LOEB). Rosalie
BLOCH's grandson, Jacob HAHN was the informant on Johanetta
LIEBMANN's death record, whereas, Rosalie herself was present at the
marriage of her daughter. The 1812 marriage record takes precedence
over the 1855 death record.
Her age is given as 73 on her death certificate, but this would make
her 50 when her youngest daughter, Julie was born in 1801. This is
not an impossibility, but, possibly Rosalie ARONIN was born sometime
later than 1751, or her youngest daughter was born earlier than 1801.
There is no birth record for Julie LIEBMANN in Wiesoppenheim in 1801
(even though birth records started there in 1798 under the French
Republic). |
