It is said that Mary Skinner resided for a time when a little girl, with her uncle James Hilton in Thorold, and was a playmate with 'Josie'. and may have been the other'twin' ..." According to the delayed registration of birth of her daughter, Valeria by her son, Owen on 18 February 1946, she was the mother of 11 children, 4 still living (Chauncey, Owen, Violet, and Ethel). It also indicates her racial origin was Scottish. Her birthdate is given as 15 March 1837 in the 1901 census. She is listed as having just turned 92 years old in her obituary in March 1930, which would make her birthyear 1838. According to her death record, she was born 15 March 1839.
