Notes for Johann Martin HÖß
His year of birth is estimated based on an age of 15 years at
confirmation in 1736. Both his wife and his sister-in-law were
confirmed at 15 years of age, as well as almost everyone in the
register (some were 14 and others 16).

His parents were "severely chastized" by the church in Grötzingen for
"all too early sleeping together ... which came about in Sielming,
where they formally served in their official Stuttgardt duties."
There is no baptim record for Martin in Grötzingen, and his estimated
year of birth corresponds to a time prior to his parents marriage on
1 October 1721. Martin was probably conceived in Sielmingen, but it
is not certain where he was born. There was no baptism record for
him in Sielmingen.
