Notes for Johann Friederich KREBS
The 1900 census indicates he was born in 1867.

According to their daughter, Freda Katherine Krebs:
His name is Johann Friederich Krebs and went by the name, Frederick
Krebs. He spoke with a German dialect, and immigrated to America
from Berne, Switzerland, leaving his parents and siblings behind. He
drove a milk wagon (horse drawn) in America for an Abbotts dairy
store. He was a heavy drinker who made his own wine and kept it in
barrels in his basement. His daughter strongly believes he was not a
believer, and regarded him as the "black sheep" of the family. She
said the only time she saw him have any feeling for anyone, was when
his horse was sick.

1900 United States Federal Census Record (on 1 June, enumerated 4 & 5
June):
In 1900, at age 32, he was steadily employed as a milk dealer, and
married to his wife, Freda for four years. They lived with their one
year old son in a house rented at 2206 Seventh Street, Philadelphia.
He was born in Germany on January 1867 to German born parents, and
immigrated in 1883 at the age of 17, and was still a legal alien.

1910 United States Federal Census Record (on 15 April, enumerated 22
April):
In 1910, at age 43, he was working steadily on his own accord as a
retail merchant of milk and ice?, and married to his wife, Freda for
15 years (his first marriage). They lived with their eleven year old
son in a house rented at 2206 Seventh Street, Philadelphia. He spoke
German and was born in Switzerland to German speaking Swiss born
parents and immigrated in 1870 (a large discrepancy with the 1900
census), and was a naturalized citizen of the U.S.
