Vienna. – Many friends gathered at the home of Mrs. Rachel Pace on Sunday to wish her happy returns of the day and be with her on her 100th birthday anniversary.

Mrs. Pace was born at Cook’s Mills, near Niagara Falls, the daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth Skinner, and came to Vienna when a child two years old.  Practically all her life has been lived in and around Vienna.  She was a member of the United Brethren Church and was baptized in the Otter Creek in front of the old Captain Edison home.

She was married to Calvin Chapell Pace in 1862, who died 30 years ago.  There were seven children, Mrs. John Asbury, deceased; Mrs. Jessie Oatman, Vienna; Dr. Arthur Pace, Toledo, Ia.; Mrs. Inez Baxter and Calvin Pace, Marlette, Mich.; John B. Pace, deceased, and Grace B. Pace, Vienna.

Many relatives from great distances were as follows: Mrs. Inez Baxter and Mr. And Mrs. Calvin Pace, Marlette, Mich.; Mrs. Lotta E. Barr, St. Paul, Minn.; Mr. And Mrs. Chris. Hornbeck, Don, Lois and Lee, Pontiac, Mich.; Mrs. Gertrude Foster, Pontiac; Miss Hazel Pace, Pontiac; Mr. And Mrs. Hugh Pace. Vienna; Mr. And Mrs. William Skinner, Baltimore, Md., Chauncey C. F. Hepburn and Mr. And Mrs. Wilson H. Mills, M.P., along with many others.

Mrs. Pace is the only member left of the Daniel Skinner family and little Lynda Lee Skinner, age four, is the youngest descendant.  It was a happy event in her young life to present her gear great aunt with a gift in honor of the occasion.

Mrs. Pace has a keen sense of humor and still retains her usual good health and thoroughly enjoys the kindly visits from friends and neighbors.
