Photograph of Mary Jane HESS (seated front right) with an unknown group (and her mother possibly standing behind her)
Analysis and dating by Penny Ladnier of the Costume Gallery:
I am dating the group photo from 1893-1899. The newest fashion is the seated lady on the left. She is wearing the ruffled winged leg-o'mutton sleeves. This was fashionable during this time frame. The lady on the right, her hairstyle dates earlier. The seated lady in the middle is very difficult to see clearly. But her hairstyle does fit in the 1893-1899 time frame. The older standing lady is difficult to see.
