No. 611

Hahn.

 

            I, Jacob Hahn of the City and County of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, Dry Goods and Trimmings Merchant being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding do make publish and declare this my last Will and testament, hereby revoking all Wills by me at any time heretofore made.

 

            First, I order and direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid by my Executors hereinafter named as soon as conveniently may be after my death.

 

            Item. I give, devise and bequeath all my household goods and furniture unto my children their heirs and assigns equally share and share and share alike absolutely and forever.

 

            Item. I order and direct my said Executor hereinafter named from and immediately after my death to cause to be appraised the stock of goods rights and credits of the business of Hahn and Son at No. 1420 N. Second street in said City of which I am half-owner by three competent and disinterested persons, and my one half of said stock to allow to remain in said business for the full end and term of five years next ensuring my death and at the end of said term of five years my one half thereof with the increase and gains thereof or less the losses incurred should business prove unprofitable to take out of said business and to divide into five equal parts 10 shares and disposed of as follows to wit.

 

One full equal fifth part or share thereof I give devise and bequeath unto my Executors hereinafter named, and the survivor of them in trust that they or he do and shall put and place the same out at interest or good real security or in such other securities as the law directs and the interest thereof to reinvest and the same to pay over to the children of my son Henry as each one of them respectively reaches the age of twenty one years, their heirs and assigns.  The share each one of said children shall receive shall be for the first or eldest one equal portion thereof the whole to be divided into as many parts or shares as there are children of my said son Henry then living, for the second one equal portion of the remainder with the increase thereof the same to 10. Divided into as many parts or shares as there are children remaining, not counting the first, and so on for the third and fourth and remaining children of my said son Henry until the youngest of said children shall reach the age of twenty one years and the remainder shall be paid to him or her.

 

One other of said full equal fifth parts or shares thereof, I give devise and bequeath unto my son Frederick, his heirs and assigns absolutely and forever.

 

One other of said full equal fifth parts or shares, I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Rosa, her heirs and assigns absolutely and forever.

 

One other of said full equal fifth parts or shares, I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Carrie, her heirs and assigns absolutely and forever.

 

And the remaining one full equal fifth part or share thereof, I give devise and bequeath unto my son Sigmund his heirs and assigns absolutely and forever.

 

            Item. All the rest residue and remainder of my estate real personal and mixed whatsoever of which I may die seized and possessed and wheresoever found I order and direct my said Executors hereinafter named, to divide into five equal parts or shares and disposed of as follows to wit.

 

One full equal fifth part or share thereof I give devise and bequeath unto my Executors hereinafter named the survivor of them in trust that they or he do and shall put and place the same out at interest or good real security or in such other securities as the law directs and the interest thereof to reinvest and the same to pay over to the children of my son Henry as each one of them respectively reaches the age of twenty one years, their heirs and assigns the share of each one to be proportioned as hereinbefore directed in tem second.

 

One other of said full equal fifth parts or shares thereof I give devise and bequeath unto my son Frederick his heirs and assigns absolutely and forever the same to be paid him within thirty days after my death.

 

One other of said full equal fifth parts or shares thereof I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Rosa her heirs and assigns absolutely and forever the same to be paid her within thirty days after my death.

 

One other of said full equal fifth parts or shares thereof I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Carrie her heirs and assigns absolutely and forever the same to be paid her within thirty days after my death.

 

And the remaining one full equal fifth parts or shares thereof I give devise and bequeath unto my son Sigmund his heirs and assigns absolutely and forever the same to be paid him within thirty days after my death.

 

            Item. To my son Isaac Hahn having already invested him with a full one-half of the stock rights and credits of my said business by making him an equal partner in same with me, I leave my best wishes for his prosperity and happiness.

 

Lastly, I nominate constitute and apportion my son Isaac Hahn and my brother-in-law Levi Ostheim Executors of this my last Will and testament. In witness whereof I Jacob Hahn the testator have unto this my last Will and testament written on two sheets of paper set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of May A.D. one thousand eight hundred and eighty one.

Signed sealed published and declared by the already named testator as and for his last Will and testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence and the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our son as witness thereto.

            I, Jacob Hahn the above named testator, do hereby make and publish this Codicil to my last Will and testament bearing date the thirteenth day of May A.D. 1881, in manner following to wit.

 

            Item. I do revoke the devises in my said Will contained to my said Executors in trust to pay over to the children of my son Henry, and do give devise and bequeath the same to Clara Hahn wife of my son Henry her heirs and assigns forever.

 

            Item. I do revoke the devises in my said will contained to my son Frederick, and do give devise and bequeath the same to Hannah Hahn wife of my son Frederick her heirs and assigns forever, and do hereby ratify and confirm my said Will in all other respects.

 

            In witness whereof I, Jacob Hahn, the testator hereinbefore named have hereunto set my hand and seal this sixteenth day of May A.D. one thousand eight hundred and eighty one (1881).
