| Notes for Harriet Merle ASPINWALL | ||||||||||
| According to Lewis Parker Abell, "She was a teacher in the schools for five years, then for 14 years was connected with the dead-letter division, of the department of the U.S. postal service at Washington, resigning in 1985 to become confidential clerk to the state superintendent of public instruction, until her marriage. After the death of Mr. Hilton she sold off their portion of the estate retaining only the home place with its gardens in which she attempted to continue and indulge her hobby of choice rose culture. She sought a milder climate for the winters but fell ill at St. Petersburg, Florida, a victim of the unusually severe season of 1934/5, where she died March 3, 1935. They had no children." | ||||||||||
