Johannes Zehring, son of Jacob Zehring and Caterine Mechling, was born on March 2, 1802, in Jonestown, in what is now Lebanon County, Pa., died on January 24, 1866, age 63y, 10m, 22d, in Swatara Township, Lebanon County, and was buried at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, which was adjacent to the Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Jonestown. When the church decided to build an educational wing, the Zion Lutheran Cemetery was destroyed. The bodies were placed in a common grave under the new education building. The legible tombstones were read and the readings were recorded in a memorial book, that is now preserved in the new structure. All the stones were then hauled to the dump. Both Johannes's and Sarah's birth and death dates are recorded in this memorial book. Johannes was known as John . On February 27, 1825, in Zion Lutheran Church, Jonestown, he married Sarah Tittle, a daughter of Jacob Tittle and Sarah [[ Catherine per www.ancestry.com ]] Fisher. Sarah was born on January 4, 1806, died of consumption, on December 27, 1875, age 69y, 11m, 23d, in Swatara Township, and was buried in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Children: ... | ||||||||||||||||
