| The 1587 marriage record of his son, Peter GENTNER II, indicates that either he or his father is from here [Grötzingen]. The birth of Peter GENTNER Jr.'s first child, Peter GENTNER III, make it clear that there are three Peter GENTNERs: Peter GENTNER I, b. Grötzingen Peter GENTNER II, b. bef. 1558, Grötzingen Peter GENTNER III, b. 1 May 1591, Grötzingen There are two death records for Peter GENTNER in October 1610 in Grötzingen, Peter GENTNER (d. 26 October 1610), and Peter, the son of Peter GENTNER (d. 9 October 1610). It is not clear which of the three Peter GENTNERs these two records refer to. Death records begin in 1572 in Grötzingen. Peter GENTNER I last fathered a child in Grötzingen in 1570. It is possible that Peter GENTNER I died between 1569 and 1572 (and his wife, Anna, between 1570 and 1572), and there is no record of it in Grötzingen. The death of Peter, the son of Peter GENTNER may refer to any of the three, but probably, Peter II or III. The other death record probably refers to Peter I or II, since Peter GENTNER III (who was 19 years old in 1610) was neither married or had children in Grötzingen. A death date of 1610 for Peter GENTNER I would mean that he was no younger than 81 years old at his death (b. bef. 1529), if we assume he was at least 18 years old when he fathered his son, Jerg GENTNER in 1546/7. | ||||||||||||
