| Notes for Martha WORDSWORTH | ||||||||||||||||
| Josias WORDSWORTH, the father of Martha WORDSWORTH, declared his Last Will & Testament on 28 February 1670, and was buried two days later. Martha is baptized eight months later. Josias WORDSWORTH does not mention his daugther, Martha, as a beneficiary in his Will, but may not have known his wife was pregnant with her at the time his Will was declared. In 1721, a seventeen year old, Martha HUTCHINSON, daughter of John and Martha HUTCHINSON, is named as a beneficiary in the Last Will and Testament of John WORDSWORTH, the widower of the long-deceased, Mary HUTCHINSON, the older sister of John HUTCHINSON, who died in 1707 when Martha HUTCHINSON was only three years old. It states, "I give and bequeath unto my niece, Martha Hutchinson, the sum of twenty pounds to be paid here by my said executor at her age of one and twenty years." Martha HUTCHINSON is the niece of Mary HUTCHINSON with certainty, but it is not certain whether she is the neice of John WORDSWORTH also, or only the niece of his wife. John WORDSWORTH had a much younger sister, Martha WORDSWORTH, who died in 1719, only two years prior to the declaration of his Will, and who may have been the wife of John HUTCHINSON Jr. We know that the first name of the wife of John HUTCHINSON Jr. is Martha from the following Indenture of Lease where she is named, but cannot be certain she is Martha WORDSWORTH, sister of testator, John WORDSWORTH, but it seems more likely than not, given the higher probability of an significant association existing between John WORDSWORTH, and a seventeen year old niece, Martha HUTCHINSON, daughter of John HUTCHINSON Jr. and his sister, Martha WORDSWORTH, rather than the more distant (although better established) relationship between Mary HUTCHINSON, the long deceased wife of John WORDSWORTH, and her niece, the same Martha HUTCHINSON. An indenture, pertaining to the release of six closes, was made on 10 Dec 1723 between four parties, including, 1) Elias WORDSWORTH of Burton at Monk Bretten in the parish of Royston, Gent, and Executor of the Last Will and Testament of the late John WORDSWORTH, Gent, also of Burton 2) John HUTCHINSON of Mapplewell in the parish of Dalton, York Co., Yeoman, and his two sons, by his late wife, Martha. i) Thomas HUTCHINSON of Applehaigh in the parish of Royston, York Co., Husbandman, eldest son ii) Robert HUTCHINSON of Applehaigh, Husbandman, younger son | ||||||||||||||||
