| The maiden name of Harriett WILSON is specified in the Royston parish register for the baptisms of her first three children. I originally thought Harriett WILSON may be the daughter of Abraham WILSON and Harriet BEET of Vicar Lane in Leeds, but I never felt comfortable with that identification. She has a son, named, John Westerman HAIGH, and yet I have found no ancestor of hers with the name, WESTERMAN. A John BAINES had signed as a witness to her marriage, and yet I have found no brothers or uncles by that name. The signature of John WILSON, however, is nearly identical to the signature of John WILSON in the marriage register of St. John the Baptist Church, Wakefield, for the 1797 marriage of John WILSON and Mary WESTERMAN. The baptism records in Ossett, Dewsbury for the children of John WILSON and Mary WESTERMAN show a gap between 12 June 1799 and 11 Feb 1804, during which time Harriett WILSON (b. abt. 1802/3, Leeds) may have been born to this couple while possibly residing outside of Ossett. She is a resident of the parish of Wakefield (adjacent to the parish of Dewsbury) at the time of her marriage in 1822. John WILSON, Clothier, does not appear in the 1822 Baines Directory in Dewsbury. 1841 - Age 35 [b. 1805/6], b. Yorkshire 1851 - Age 46 [b. 1804/5], b. Leeds 1861 - Age 57 [b. 1803/4], b. Harriett WILSON of Vicar Lane, Leeds, has no brother or uncle with the name, John WILSON, and has no known ancestor with the name, WESTERMAN.
