According to the England Censuses, it appears that John NORTH was born to William NORTH and Maria HAIGH of Briestfield in 1800/1 in Briestfield. His parents were married in Thornhill on 16 Feb 1791, and two of their children were baptized in Thornhill (in 1792 and 1795), while residing in Briestfield. No baptism can be found for John in 1800/1 at St. Michael and All Angels Church in Thornhill. Maria NORTH nee HAIGH was buried in Thornhill on 30 Jun 1830, while still a resident of Briestfield. The 1841 census shows William NORTH living with his son, John, in Hill Side, Kirkheaton. William NORTH died the following year while still a resident of Hill Side, Kirkheaton, and was buried in Kirkheaton on 10 Jul 1842.
