Horbury The brother of Mary CHILD, John CHILD, was baptized 30 August 1799 in Butley, Prestbury, Cheshire to George CHILD and Martha HUNT who were married in nearby Stockport, Cheshire on 1 April 1799. George CHILD and Martha HUNT apparently moved to Horbury in the parish of Wakefield, Yorkshire, before the birth of Mary CHILD in about 1801. John CHILD witnessed the marriage of Mary CHILD to George MILNER, 14 September 1823 in Wakefield, and later appears with his family in Horton, Bradford, Yorkshire in the 1841, 1851 and 1861 censuses. The birthplace of John CHILD in the 1851 census is Butley, Cheshire, and shows his first three children born in Horbury.
