| Occupation: Farmer (according to his Will and the marriage certificate of his son, Thomas BAINES, to Frances (Fanny) ROBERTS, on 15 December 1859, in Horbury). Occupation: Weaver (according to the baptism and burial records of children born to John Baines between 1792 and 1798 at Horbury). Two burials were found for Hannah BAINES, wife of John BAINES, one for Hannah SAYNER (bur. 27 January 1800) and one for Hannah SHEARD (bur. 20 April 1851). John BAINES of Horbury, Clothier, married Hannah SHEARD of Crofton, on 26 May 1777, in Crofton, and had a son Abel baptized in Crofton on 1 March 1778. Abel BAINES was buried in Horbury on 24 June 1779. John BAINES had a son, Samuel BAINES, baptized on 14 May 1780 in Horbury. John BAINES of Dewsbury, married Hannah SAYNER of Horbury, on 11 February 1782 in Horbury. Hannah BAINES nee SHEARD appears in the 1851 census in Horbury, as 95 years old, and born in Crofton. She appears as a mother-in-law to Christopher CUSWORTH, making her the mother of his wife, Sarah BAINES, born abt. 1797 in Horbury. No baptism for a Sarah BAINES, daughter of John BAINES can be found at that time in Horbury. | ||||||||||||||||||
